Pregnancy grant and ILR application
« on: December 01, 2010, 12:37:10 PM »
Hi,  (I posted this in immigration but no one answered maybe you all can)

When reading a recent thread, it was brought to my attention that if I  collect the 190 pound pregnancy grant I may hurt my chances of getting my ILR application approved - because I'd be collecting public funds without "recourse".  The form says I am entitled to the grant as the spouse of a UK citizen - should I just forget it and not collect? or am I allowed - I certainly don't want to accept it if it will cause problems for me when I apply for ILR next month.

Thanks, dncsmmrs

As the spouse of a British Citizen there are benefits you're entitled to that others that are not spouses of British Citizens can collect with the 'no recourse to public funds' endorsement.

Don't worry about it. Just make sure you answer yes to the question that asks about it.
