ILR - Returning Spouse's Passport

Hello all,

I'm getting ready to send my ILR in in the next few days and had a quick question. When you apply by post, do they send your spouse's (UK) passport back to you after it's been authenticated, and before your ILR has been processed? I know they hand it back to you if you do the Settlement Checking Service, but that's not available anywhere near where I am in North Wales.

He'll need it as we'll be moving and he'll need it as proof of nationality when applying for jobs in the next couple of months (his birth certificate is non-UK though he is a UK citizen).

With mine we got everything back together, so no, his didn't come back before mine.

There may be a way for you to send a copy of his passport instead of the actual passport (unsure how that works here in the UK, but in the US it would be notarised). I'm sure someone else who knows specifically will say.

We used settlement checking service so my husband could keep his British passport while my application was decided.  Biggest benefit of this service as we were concerned.
