Going Biometric

In about 1 year, IND will begin migrating to the new biometric passorts and ID cards.  I got my ID card yesterday in the pilot project, and here's what happened:

They take your photograph, your iris prints, your facial contour, your fingerprints, and signature.  Then they produce an ID card that has your name and photo and a little computer chip.

After that, you go to a separate desk that has a card-reader and they put your card in and ask you to look into the eye camera.  And BAM there's all your details on the screen.

There's also a post-processing questionaire about your privacy concerns.

On balance, it was fairly well organized and the computer peripherals for fingerprints, signature, and iris prints were VERY slick!

Yes....very slick....but why do I just feel like I've stepped into a scene from Minority Report?
I was born in the Summer and at Night...my mother named me AUTUMN DAWN.  True story.

Jamie's...beyond the stars and past eternity.

EMAIL or PM me for information about gigs or about booking me (solo gig) or the band.

Because, Songmistress, Garry...is...Tom Cruise! and I...am...that sickly pale chick. I don't know who David Blunkett would play.

Yes, these ID cards are a little spooky. Fortunately Her Majesty's Government is far too imcompetent to get its act together enough to use the Cards for sinister purposes.

It's been a favourite giggle of mine that Al Fayed (of Harrods) has laid his supposed  conspiracy at the feet of the Duke of Edinburgh.

According to Al Fayed, the Duke of Edinburgh single-handedly put together a multinational plot to assassinate a public figure - i.e., Diana, who was always surrounded by photographers in the first instance - and to have the whole thing take place in a foreign country and somehow keep the whole thing a secret.

That's a bit much for a guy who can barely be trusted to make a sandwich without screwing it up...

This is one reason why my husband is hesitant to move back.  These things are too scary for me.  I'm wondering how soon they will be here in the US.

I think that there are too many groups in the states that will put a stop to this...for as long as posible anyhow.
