What cost for my situation w/moving my cat?
« on: August 21, 2011, 05:40:15 AM »
Does 3500$ sound too much? Please know that I am severely disabled and need others to do all handling. What would my options be?

Depends on what that entails. My 15 lbs. cat in a medium sized kennel is $680 via Delta, and then a $730 charge by the ARC (or whoever) to handle him. Other than vet visits (which my vet won't charge me a 'visit' price when he gets microchipped and vaccinated, he'll just charge me to DO those) that's what we are paying for our kitty.

OK. I have talked with two companies and one was so rude so...the other will take him to vet visits, take to airport and board him, help with security, check him at the airport before international flight, deal with entry and deliver to new home. I can't remember how they time our arrivals and me starting out in a hotel for a fee days.

For all that the price you gave isn't bad I guess. I would still probably call around to a few other places just to get different prices for the service you need so you can compare. But of course go off who gives you a good vibe as well as they will have your little one in their care.

Make sure the $3500 includes the airfare. If so, that sounds fairly reasonable if they're doing all the work (transport to/from the vet, etc). If not, it sounds a bit high. (Though to be fair, I never got those sorts of quotes myself, so maybe that is reasonable.)

Thanks both of you.

Love the "little one"! I am proud to be a slave to cats and so he is my dear but problematic little one.

Also, I had to stop, you brought up a good point-if that price includes air fare! I have it saved but I am sure that it did!

I'm flying into Dublin with Aer Lingus and their transport company quoted me $2500 for two cats for door to door service (I'm moving them to Belfast).

Thanks for that. Gives me something to use/go by.
