Didn't the Colbert Report run on F/X at one time (as funny as that is)?  TDS and CR were what I used to justify us getting cable when we moved because I had been without CR for 2 years at that point.  When we got cable, it didn't seem to be on.  Now we're losing TDS.  It's crap really, but I imagine that the cost to licence stuff off Comedy Central is astronomical, and that is why Comedy Central here doesn't run much of its own programming from the States..

Good to know that we might get something to replace all the stuff we have lost or are going to lose this year with that "Sofa Screen", but irksome that we're losing TDS.

I am devastated about this!!   I also sent a complaint and joined a facebook group (there are only 8 people so far but I thought it was worth a try!)

If anyone else wants to join:  http://www.lateshowuk.com/dailyshowpetition

I am just so sad! This show made me feel connected and also provided me with hope!!

This is the only show DH and I made sure not to miss.  :\\\'(

I am guessing they are dropping it to promote 10 O'Clock Live http://www.channel4.com/programmes/10-oclock-live which looks to be just a crappy copy of The Daily Show. I highly doubt Jimmy Carr can manage half finesse that Jon Stewart has! Hopefully it will tank and we can get TDS back!

Well, I'd like to have them both.  I love both Charlie Brooker and David Mitchell.

Saw 10 o'Clock Live last night.  It sort of is a mix of a bad version of TDS (focusing on Jimmy Carr who can be funny, but didn't really shine last night), a weird music special vibe with Lauren Laverne, a wipe of some sort with Brooker who is genius (as always), and Mitchell being a semi-serious news person doing interviews and moderating a sort of Politically Incorrect/Real Time round table with humour format.  Some of it was crap; some of it was brilliant.  Carr should be dropped if he can't adapt to the format.  I really don't get why they have Laverne.  It's off putting and out of place.  They should do less with the result being more, if you know what I mean.

ETA:  Not exactly hard hitting satire, the targets seemed to be bankers' bonuses, priests being molesters, the Pope's Hitler Youth background, Americans having guns, Sarah Palin, uni fees (which Mitchell handled incredibly--really in his element), etc.  Brooker's take on Tunisia was great.

Sky Atlantic starts on Feb 1st - facebook page here http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/SkyAtlantic
I asked if they could pick up both The Daily Show and Colbert Report, they said "there are no plans to show these shows at the moment, but we'll keep you updated."
So maybe if people contact them they'll see there's a demand.
