Bank statements for settlement
« on: January 24, 2011, 06:00:25 PM »
Hello all,

This forum has been so helpful in helping me prepare my application. I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to answer questions from baffled applicants like myself.

I am getting ready to file my settlement application to the LA consulate. My wife and kids have already left for UK a few weeks back. We will be staying at her mom's house until we can find jobs in UK.

I have a letter from her mom inviting us to stay at their house free of rent and a copy of the land registry title. We'll  be relying on the money in our savings account to survive while we are looking for jobs.

While preparing the application, I was wondering if I should attach bank statements from both savings and checking account? Or would just savings account statements should suffice.

I am not sure what value the checking account statements will add, since they show our expenses before my family moved to UK. Since the move, their expenses have been very minimal as they are staying with my wife's family.

Thank you all once again for your help.

If you are depending on the funds in your checking account to meet the maintenance requirement you will need to submit the last 3 months worth of statements in order to verify those funds. Same thing with your Savings.

Thanks for the quick reply. That clarifies it. We are only depending upon the Savings account for maintenance expenses. I will just include the Savings account statements for the last 3 months.

Checking account was used for day to day spending only and doesn't contain much in terms of a balance.
