Patterns for Crochet and Knitting. Lets Share!

I crochet when ever I can manage some free time. I would like to learn to knit as well but just haven't found a beginners pattern that I like enough. I have some knitting supplies I bought but just haven't felt ready to dive in yet. I pretty much thought my self crochet by watching YouTube videos, a friend giving me some pointers, and finding free patterns online. There was a lot of trial and error and messed up projects but one day it just clicked and now I can read patterns and do a few I thought I would never be able too! I just feel like I am running out of places to find nice patterns for cheap or free now. Can you crafty people share your sources here? Books, websites, or original patterns....Pretty please.   I know you're out there!

You can search free patterns at Ravelry (and they have some good threads on all sorts of subjects.)

I'll happily join, but I suspect I'd be a disappointing member. I forget about Ravelry for stretches of time, mostly in summer when I've got stuff to do in the garden.

I used yarn by Katia called Ondas in a beige colour on 12mm needles, knitting in a twisted drop stitch. So good I wish I'd done one for myself.
