What do you need to get a marriage visa????

Hello everyone. Me (British) and my American partner want to get married in the UK however we do not want to stay here after. We have saved up some money and we are going to move to France after the wedding. What do we need to satisfy the marriage visa requirements?

Also does she need to return to America after the marriage or can she move on into Europe?

Does anything need to be notarized?
