Hypothyroidism

I've been taking 75 mcg of levothyroxine for about two years.  At the end of December 2010 I finished my US supply of pills.

In November 2010 I had a blood test in the UK for TSH, and it was normal.  I was told to continue on 75 mcg of levo.  In January I began taking levo manufactured in the UK.  I've been having side effects three ways sides and flat.  My local GP has no explanation for the side effects. 

Has anyone experienced side effects after switching to levo made in the UK?  If so, what did you do about it?  It is not possible for me to go back to the US for a blood test and a prescription.

What sorts of side effects?

Can they switch you to a different med? I take Eltroxin for thyroid disease. (Edit: Just looked at my pills and realized Eltroxin IS the same as what you're taking. But maybe there's something else to try?)

FYI, you probably know this but just in case you don't, you should be eligible for a medical exemption certificate which lets you have all your RX meds for free.

Side effects:  combination of PMS, maternity blues, menopause; racing heart every so often; hair is dry.

I am on Eltroxin as well.  There's got to be something in the Eltroxin that wasn't in the US meds.

I may need to switch brands, although, the local GP is checking with a pharmacist to see if will compare the UK and US meds to see if he can determine a difference.  I feel over-hormoned!

I am on Levothyroxine over here. And the only difference I have found is when I started it I got headaches for a week. Everytime they up my meds I get the headaches for a week then I am fine..maybe they can take you off the meds they have you on and put you on Levo?

Please let us know if there is a difference in the UK and US versions. I've had some probs since I've been here, more headaches and low energy, and don't know if it's the different pills or just me.

If I get an answer from the surgery, I most certainly will.
