The time is near! Questions about school...
« on: May 25, 2011, 06:19:07 PM »
I haven't posted on here in a long while...but our time for moving is getting closer. We've still not told anyone outside of close family as no one else can know for business reasons. So in other words, lets just throw some extra stress into this shall we? ugh. Sorry if this is not the correct forum to post in - I wasn't sure where else to do it!

Anyway, DH & son will be going to UK in mid-June to setup home & apply for school admission. He'll be year 7 which is a major cause for concern. The town we're moving to has 1 school and our home is a block from it (& it is the school we want). Next closest schools are 5 miles+. The big issue is we couldn't apply to the school until we live there. And application deadlines were during the school year. And it's a popular school.

I can't find any info about late admissions due to moving in from another country (just from other counties or towns). I'm hoping they'll give us special consideration for this - but am still worried about him getting in.

Meanwhile, my daughter (7 yrs old) won't be arriving in the UK until the week before school starts and we have to register her too!

Any advice? Personal stories to share?

TIA,
Shelly
