Hello everyone,

My husband (UKC) and I (USC) are thinking about a move back to the States and weighing up our options. I am able to apply for ILR in June, and then would be able to get my UK passport by next year. I see the current timeline for a DCF is 10 months according to the Embassy website....which got the wheels turning in my head. If we have to wait out 10mths in the UK anyway, could I put in my application for UK Citizenship while we have a DCF in process? I know it would look bad in terms of our intention to stay in the UK, but I want to keep our options open for the future.
I'm sure others must have gone through a similar thought process--anyone know for sure if it is OK or a no-no? Thanks!

Yes, you can. And if you're already in the US when it's time for your citizenship ceremony you can have it there!

That's great to know--so we can apply for the DCF and even after we have that--I can apply for citizenship without an issue even though there is clear intent to live in the States for a period of time? I'm not at all clear on whether your intention to remain in the UK indefinitely is a key factor in your citizenship application or not.
Has anyone personally gone down this route on the board? Would love to hear first hand accounts. Thanks everyone :)
