Recent Resident

Hi Everyone!

I'm a recent American expat who just married my Brit this past January after three years of transatlantic visits and visa fiascos (I'm pretty sure I stumbled upon this site during the latest one!).

I've officially been in the UK for a year and a half but only just became a resident. I just wanted to say how comforting it is that there is an online community like this one. Until recently, I had been turning to Doritos every time I got homesick! But I've started sewing which has been a great way to get involved in the culture and community.

I've been blogging about my experiences since moving to the UK if anyone would like to check it out :) aye2zed.blogspot.com

Welcome!

Nice blog, Jenn - and I loooove the skirt you made! I'm going to add you to my blogroll if you don't mind! My blog is here, but isn't really about being American because I'm only sort of American. Are you in Wales? Only asking because I was born there and lived there up until quite recently.

Thank you, chary! I'm flattered that you've added my blog to your blogroll. I really like yours as well! The knicker kit is too cute. I love great finds like that, so I'll definitely be following! I don't live in Wales, at the moment I'm out Gloucestershire way, which is starting to look lovely. :)

Welcome! ;D

Love your skirt. Did you buy a sewing machine there or bring it?
We met in Tokyo through friends when we both lived in Japan.

Last year we moved to Thailand, got our first apartment together, got jobs with the same employer (!), didn't end up killing each other, got married, and decided to move to the UK to settle down.

London, here we come!

Thank you! The sewing machine was bought in the UK. It would have been too much of a hassle to deal with the different adaptors and things. :)
