Save the Dates

Do people not send out save the dates in the UK?  My df has just told me that he wants to just send out the invites asap for an end of August wedding!  Can this be possible, he is a boy, so he might not know. 

We've never gotten any for the UK weddings I've attended (we're at...whoa...four? now).  BUT, these were all in a close group of friends, so we didn't even get an actual invite for one of them--we were just told where and when to show up and what to wear!
I sent them out because we had so many people coming from all over the UK and US (we were married in San Diego), but we didn't actually send any to people in the UK!

I had a save the date for one UK wedding, but I don't think most people do it. However, it's becoming more popular. We did it and nobody thought we were weird!

He told me today that he wanted invites in 3 weeks when I go there.  I don't even have a theme yet!

We did save the dates for ours but only sent to the US and Australia guests (reasoning that they would have more complicated travel arrangements to make). 

I'd go for it though - if anyone thinks it's odd you can always explain it as "American Wedding Custom" 

What about vistaprint postcards with a cute photo of the two of you?  That's nice without committing you to a theme.

I've ordered them from vista print.  Can't beat 100 cards for $6.50!  But no pics of us yet, we're too fat!

We sent out save the dates (magnets) also from Vista Print (love them).  Also, we have been sent save the dates from two out of the four UK weddings we have been invited to!

In the end I sent them, but in my infinite dumbness put the date as August 27, 2010, not 2011!

Hah! That sounds like me! I ordered little boxes of chocolates to put in the hotel rooms of out-of-town guests and printed 12 June on them instead of 13 June. Everyone still turned up on the right day. 

On the invites I didn't capitalize part of the town name that my parents live in.  It was for the responce cards.

I have a friend who is great at editing, but she wasn't around at midnight!  Plus, my mom and I have different ideas on what help means, and DF (who is usually lovely) has no interest in the details.  Drives me nuts!  Of course, if it's wrong they both get upset.
