So if my company sponsors me as a Business Visitor, they'd get in trouble if they try to sponsor me on an T2 ICT later down the line/following year?

For absolutely sure, this is on their radar.
I remember a rather large gathering of the clan for a PBS presentation by Niel Hughes (late 2008) where the topic of a cooling off period between BV/VV and T2 ICT was raised. I'll have a look through my stuff for the minutes. It could be they dropped the whole idea as being impractical.
But in all events, it's better to consult a specialist before travelling too far down a strategy that has a 12 month cooling off period (if indeed that's what it is)...
