This American Life - favorites

I don't get too wistful about the homeland much....but occasionally I will tear up listening to Whitney Houston's version of the National Anthem or spend a bit of time with This American Life, which is a wonderful show. Here are their "favorites":

I'd also recommend #177 American Limbo http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/177/american-limbo Stories of people living completely outside the grid of American life.

Really every episode could be listed as a favorite!

LOVE This American Life!!!  I download the podcast to TAL every week and listen to it on my ipod while I drive to work.  I recently played an episode for my husband and 9 yr-old stepson (Save the Day) and they love it now too!  I miss NPR and don't find Radio 4 as interesting.  I also download the Car Talk podcast and Splendid Table.  Thank God for itunes!!

I stream the Tappit brothers all the time. I almost wrecked once on I-95 when they had the great "can you bounce remote control signals off things" discussion. The argument was that if you had a weak battery in a remote control device (TV or car) you could bounce the beam off of something and make it work. That it somehow dispersed the weakened beam or something.

We also listen to TAL and Wait, Wait Don't tell Me from NPR.  Plus I like to listen to a PTI show from ESPN every once in a while so I don't feel so out of the US sports loop.   It helps when you are talking to people back in the US if you know what the controversies of the day are in the area they are interested.  Thankful for free podcasts!
