NUVOS and FBAR
« on: May 02, 2011, 09:09:08 PM »
I am preparing an FBAR and trying to decide if a UK pension plan has to be reported. The plan is a NUVOS, a defined benefits plan for British civil servants.

Trying to find information about what reporting requirements apply to foreign pension plans is difficult to say the least. I have run into some statements by posters on the web that defined benefit plans do not need to be reported, but that is hardly authoritative.

Is anyone familiar with NUVOS plans, and would you agree that no FBAR reporting is required? There are no employer contributions to this plan, and we are reporting the gross wages before the employee contribution.

My pension is not quite the same, but it did need to go on, and I'm not sure that the precise pension type was all that relevant.
