York Peppermint Patties?
« on: April 29, 2011, 06:24:27 PM »
Can you buy them in the UK?  :D
We met in Tokyo through friends when we both lived in Japan.

Last year we moved to Thailand, got our first apartment together, got jobs with the same employer (!), didn't end up killing each other, got married, and decided to move to the UK to settle down.

London, here we come!

No.  But there's no shortage of dark chocolate and mint if you have a craving.  Personally, I think AfterEights are even better than York.

You can also try a Kendal Mint Cake.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Bendicks bittermints are also very similar. The center is a bit firmer and more minty.  Delicious.

So Bendicks are Peppermint Patty like?

It's the mint center I like. Junior Mints are too runny for me, but peppermint patties are firm enough I can eat them in small bites. And they're amazing when chilled!

I think I saw a recipe somewhere for Peppermint Patties...

If you like to eat them in small bites, Bendicks would work for you.  Give them a try.  I like them better than peppermint patties because the choc on the outside is so much better.  It is pure bitter choc I think.  They are the kind of thing you can make last for 5 minutes.

If you live near a Tesco they sell Mint Cremes that are very similar to York patties.
