Save your boarding pass. ticket stub and everything else proving you entered on the actual date...When it comes to the next visa step they will need to know what day you entered and since you dont have a stamp to prove it all that paperwork will suddenly become VERY important.

Another option would be to leave the UK and come back in again to get your visa stamped (i.e. a quick trip over to France) - but then your visa entry date will be the date that it is stamped, so you would use that date in reference to future visa applications instead of the date you flew into the UK from Dublin (i.e. for when you are able to apply for ILR).

I see from your other posts that you only arrived in the UK a couple of days ago (the 5th?), so if you did want to do this and you did it soon, the date the visa is stamped wouldn't be too different from the date you entered the UK (i.e. you wouldn't have to wait much longer to be able to apply for ILR in 2 years' time).

yes i got here a few days ago. my flight details haven't changed at all. i printed off the same itenery through dublin when i put in all my paperwork for the fiancee visa. i do have a stamp from dublin in my passport when i went through customs there.

i do still have my payment conformations for the tickets i traveled on. the paper copies however are long gone. one of them were taken by the gate agent on my first segment and i was just told to go sit in a row. the other segment ticket i lost between the airport and home.

The Dublin thing is not as big a deal as we used to think.  I saved my boarding passes, and that plus the evidence that I had gotten an NHS number, NI number, provisional license, etc, soon after I arrived was enough for the ILR.  It's still best to avoid Dublin if you have a new visa, but if that's not an option it's no real cause for concern.

For a fiance visa, this isn't an issue.  Don't worry about it :).

If you have miles on United, you can now book a one-way award ticket.

I took the Queen Mary 2 in 2008 when I moved to the UK on an HSMP visa. You can take as much luggage as will fit in your cabin. I took five large suitcases. I had a great time, and as a bonus had no jet lag on arrival.

I never fully understood this either. Something interesting though, that's not well publicized - in the past this hasn't applied to student fares, which are available via specialist agencies like STA. These are able to be split, so a one-way fare costs exactly half of a round-trip. I discovered this back in 2004 when I came over on a 1-way ticket from Omaha for $220.

I had a discussion with the agent about why this was, and it had something to do with airlines trying to balance volume with normal fares, but student fares being leftover seats that they were just looking to fill.

Note that this was seven years ago! Still, it's worth looking into if you (or anyone reading this thread) qualify for student fares.

I know it doesnt apply to the OP, but in case someone else finds it useful:
STA does still offer one way tickets that are about half the price of your average return ticket. In January I flew over on a one way ticket from (middle-of-nowhere)NC-->London for just $301.10.  Most singles through the airline were over $1,000 from where I was trying to fly from.
