Baby Gifts from UK to US?

Any recommendations for cool or funny gifts I could send two of my best pals who are having their baby showers in the states? I hate that I can't be there with them both, and I'd really like to send them each something special that maybe they wouldn't find over there, or just something cute with a Union Jack or that says Cheeky Monkey or something English-style. Any ideas? I don't know much about babies!

But my all time favourite Etsy shop is flying bird botanicals, everything is super gorgeous and lovely, and they have a whole mama and baby section. Candice will make up a basket within your budget, just message her and normally throw some free stuff in as well. She'll theme the basket around the person, she made a great one for an outdoorsy kinda guy for my FiL.

I think they are trying to rebrand as So Tiny London in case the link doesn't work.

They have things like Union Jack booties and bibs that say "HRH" in either blue or pink. Also bibs that say something like "I want chips". They have had tshirts with sayings like "my Mummy is  Yummy Mummy". I buy things from there  to bring back for friends all time and they are always a big hit.

I just always get things that say "mum" on them, or "cheeky monkey" or are fun things like Peter Rabbit, Paddington, Highland Cows, anything with "haggis" (amazing the number of books/stuffed toys, etc that have haggis as a character), Loch Ness monsters, British play food (i.e are like fish fingers, heinz beans, etc), phone booths, double decker buses, In the Night Garden, Peppa Pig, Post Office/Royal mail, etc... 
I think its so much fun to try and see what I can find that's British or has the 'inclination of being so'

In the end, I opted for some Paddington Bear goodies (teddies and books), some matching outfits (I was buying for twin girls) from John Lewis, and t-shirts that say "I Love Mummy" from M&S.

Thanks for all the lovely suggestions! Now I REALLY don't know what to buy for them!  My BFF suggested I just use her debit card to buy from their registries as that is the stuff they really want. What do you think? I mean, I know people do those registries for a reason, but gosh, buying off one of those things seems so boring. 

Personally, I'd check what's on the registry.  If all that's left are big ticket items (out of budget) and baby clothes I'd opt to buy an outfit from over here and mail it.  It has more thought to it than buying something they've picked out, and it'll most likely be used anyway.  Just buy the outfit in say size 6-9 months or 6/9-12 months instead...  As most people seem to get innundated with newborn size outfits and then you're stuck not using them all.  Unless of coursee, there's something within your price range that you can buy from the registry and still send an outfit / article of clothes / cuddly.

On the other hand, if you know they're going to have baby Baptised save any little trinkets you might buy (ie. Paddington Bear, etc.) for then to send over.

I sent my friend a door bouncer. She had never seen them and they don't get them there (UT). Only concern I had was whether their door frame would support the baby but she tells me it's no problems and the kid is in bouncy heaven.

Ooh, good idea!  I just got an invitation to my cousin's baby shower.  She's supposedly being thrown an "eco baby shower" yet has a list of not exactly eco friendly baby items.

Don't get me wrong, I think the sentiment is lovely and all that but after a week of no sleep and a screaming baby, is she really going to care whether that rattle is made from replantable wood or not?

Thats so odd, I hadn't seen them here, and I brought one back from the states with me when my son was little. My mom got it for me!

I really like to get my friends baby clothes from Next or some other UK store, American baby clothes are often very twee, and I really like getting them something unusual. No Added Sugar has really cute Britcentric stuff, also, when I had my kids, it was so great to get clothes two or three sizes up so if my kids suddenly seemed bigger one morning (which does happen) I had a selection of clothes one size up to go to. LOL.  My sentiments exactly.  Personally, from looking at the invite and the baby wishlist it all just looks like it's for show.
