Eurovision song contest

As a matter of interest ,will any of you be watching tomorrow (saturday) and will you be cheering Great Britain 

My friends and I are having a Eurovision party tomorrow night (we do it every year) - we are each assigned different countries to support and we have to bring food/drink from our countries too!

I've been assigned Armenia, Germany, Latvia and Moldova, although Armenia and Latvia were knocked out in the semi-finals, so I don't have to worry about bringing food from there now !

what would you have brought from Armenia if they had made it to the finals ?

My husband and I are HUGE Eurovision fans, we have watched it every year since we have been together, so thats like almost 13 years! We have watched the semi's, very disappointed with Tuesdays, but loved Thursdays...

We are Team Jedward this year.

I have no idea, lol! I've only managed to find stuff from Germany so far, although that's mostly because I only just had time to think about it today .

As usual, disappointed in the winning song/band - that was lame, IMO. 

I wanted Jedward or Moldova to win, but there were others I liked better too (Spain, Serbia) than than Azerbaijan number.

Moldova was pretty good. I actually liked the entries for Italy and France.  Graham Norton is someone I usually find funny, but he was annoying me to no end last night.  I didn't care for the winner, but I am glad Greece didn't win.  Their entry just really bothered me.  Also glad Sweden's entry didn't win.

I liked Iceland's entry, but I am sort of glad they didn't win, Viking pirates that they are.  

I was introduced to it 3 years ago now and I still think, 'Cheesy music contest, where have you been all my life?'  I love it.  But I always feel bad for the people that really seem to try or have a good story because they never win, like the Iceland guys this year and the cute little Finnish boy.  Guess I must like the Scandinavians, except the Swedes this year.  Yuck.  But, yeah, it seemed like Azerbaijan really did win it because they were the only ones who could afford to host it.  Jedward just seemed like a 'Please not us, we can't afford it' cry from Ireland to me.

Yeah, Moldova's song was really random, but very Eurovision . I wasn't keen on Italy or France because they seemed a bit too serious for the competition . At one point we did actually think that Jedward could win it - their song might have been really cheesy, but it was definitely a Eurovision-type song. Was pleasantly  surprised that the UK got as many points as we did though.

One of the girls at our party last night is from Sweden and she was telling us that Eurovision is a really big deal over there - it's apparently the biggest TV event of the year! She spent all evening telling us random facts about the competition and the different acts performing (like who wrote the songs and who was performing) - we couldn't believe how much she knew about it!

I looooved Moldova. It was absurd and trippy, but you could tell the band knew it was ridiculous. I honestly think they were just taking the piss of the whole thing, which is probably why I voted for them. 

I thought Italy was quite good and Switzerland's was rather nice - I was surprised how few votes the latter received.  As for the winning song... really?! Ugh.

Yeah, Jedward were brilliant! I really wanted them to win. You can not fault Blue's performance, but its so very hard for us to judge what Europe wants at the moment. I think Jedward were brilliant! Great song.  There were A LOT of great songs this year. Didn't see the attraction of Italy's entry though...or Iceland.

I also liked Serbia, Denmark, Sweden...but I can see why Azerbaijan won, it was a catchy song and really Eurovision. Unfortunately, novelty doesn't cut the mustard anymore.

I thought so too!  The same band was in it before & had another member, Granny, who was an old woman & she was fab too - I missed her.  They were taking the mick back then too, just dancing around & beating on drums & going bananas.  Lol!

Oh yeah, I also liked the boy from Finland & his song, and Denmark too.  I didn't vote - it was too hard to decide!
