Social Security Double Payments
« on: May 23, 2011, 09:45:28 PM »
Is it possible to gain exemption from US self employment tax while telecommuting from the UK? That is, working for a US company while settled in the UK, married and with indefinite leave to remain. UK tax is paid on the arising basis and the total burden seems pretty hefty! I would have thought that social security should only be paid to one or the other country.

The guidance at http://www.ssa.gov/international/Agreement_Pamphlets/uk.html [nofollow] doesn't refer to this kind of a situation.
