HTML bullet point code question

Does anyone know how to make little square bullet points?

Here is what I am trying to use but with no luck. Only the text shows....

<UL TYPE="square">
  <li>Item 1</li>
  <li>Item 2</li>
  <li>Item 3</li>
</ul>

Any help greatly appreciated!
