Hello! I'm 38 yrs old American engaged to UK citizen. I'm planning my first visit to the UK later this month. The plan is to visit for a few weeks and Risa will return to the States with me where we will get married in Iowa. Iowa allows same-sex marriages. From there Risa will return to UK while I await my spousal visa to join her. That's our plan anyway. Hopefully it all works out. The visa process is very complicated and expensive.

I am a mother. I have a 15 yr old son. We plan to bring him over once I am situated and have a job. I hate that I must leave him with family in the US but just cannot afford both visas at once.

I look forwarded getting to know new friends and hearing any advice you may have.
