A weird thing happened today....
« on: June 28, 2011, 01:09:12 PM »
I was walking back to my office at lunch when a lady walking towards me tumbled over her wedges and fell to the ground. It looked like a very painful fall. I rushed over to help her up and see that she was ok. She told me she was more embarassed and for some reason I got upset about it. Like a super wall of emphathy came at me and I suddenly had an urge to cry for her.

I didn't but I told her not to be embarassed and that it looked painful and made doubly sure she was ok and told her to take care of herself.

I'm sure I'm coming up to my time of the month or something but my response has really surprised me. It was a bit OTT for me.

I stumbled one time on my way to the office and this 80 year old woman was right there to help me up. I felt like a total idiot. You're a good person to help her up and I would have probably felt the same way as you did. Maybe you were just holding in some stress/sorrow and this triggered its release. That does happen to me sometimes, especially if I haven't had a good cry in awhile. I'm a weirdo like that, though.  :P

Exactly. I always know when I'm in need of a good cry when the stupidest things make my eyes tear up. You know, a hokey commercial or something.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Very possible. I'm not feeling very well today and I've gone home early.

It's nearly your birthday & you can cry if you want to!

Whazzup with you, Ashley? (not feeling well?)
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

Yeah, was feeling feverish and achey and I had lost my appetite. Thought I might be getting Jon's stomach thing but as soon as I got home and had a little lie down for 30 minutes, I was ok. Maybe I'm allergic to work.

This kind of thing happens to me on occasion.  Just part of being human (and female, I think), it's strange feeling when it happens, but empathy for even complete strangers is not a bad thing.  And sometimes it's just hormones, too!
