Anne of Green Gables
« on: June 29, 2011, 11:27:29 AM »
I was just reading that William and Kate are going to visit the actual house that served as a setting for Anne of Green Gables.  Applause from me for that!

Brilliant idea, and I hope the media swarms it so there will be lots of photos of the house.

I loved the TV series. Mathew is such a wonderful character.

I loved the books so much! DH got me the dvd boxset for my birthday last year. It's all 3 parts of the original PBS series. So beautiful! :D

Just thinking about Matthew makes me tear up, he's so sweet.

Just FYI, the Green Gables house has been there for decades - it was revamped for the mini-series.  I visited the house when I was 9 and I bought my copy of Anne of Green Gables there.

It is beautiful indeed...

I've always wanted to go to PEI; my grandmother said it was fantastic.  I brought most of my books (I love all 8 in the series!) and my DVDs even if I can only watch them on my computer.  Anne always brings me comfort and I re-read them pretty often.

I recently caught an extremely old movie version on tv that wasn't too great or true to the movie!  The Canadian tv series really did justice to the books (though could have been longer and more in depth) in a way that rarely happens.
