Not in all milk in the US and most milk products, like yoghurt, do not use cows treated with rBGH.

However, it does occur naturally in milk anyway.

In fact the top 3 grocery retailers in the nation, Wal-Mart, Kroger, and Costco do not sell milk that is from cows treated with rBGH.  Nor does Safeway, Starbucks, Publix, Kroger and Ralphs.

Which makes me wonder who is buying the stuff anyway.

In 2007 17% of cows in the US were treated.  Given the amount of stores that do not carry the products one can only assume the amount has dropped since almost all of those bans came in around 2008.

I had a lactose intolerance for a few years around age 10-14, then it just went away and I was able to have milk again!

The rBGH could be the problem.  I wonder if those stores sell milk products (cheese, ect) with it.  I thought I had "outgrown" my allergy to milk as well but started swelling as soon as I ate something with cheese in the States.

All milk has rBGH in it.  It occurs naturally.

I've grown out of my worse allergies from childhood.  Of course, as I say that I'm home sick and my eye is swollen shut because of them.  At least its a every year or so occurrence now and not a continuous one.

Just an update-I have milk now! We use Cravendale here at home. At work it's just the sort that says "country fresh" on the label. And we have double cream on our strawberries or raspberries at the weekend. DH puts milk in the potatoes when doing mash. I don't understand it, but I like it! ;D
