I got my visa yesterday (husband too)!
This forum has been tremendously informative and helpful, thanks everyone! In case anyone is interested, here is how it went down for me, with the new "differentiation arrangements" in place.
July 14 - submitted online applications
July 18 - biometrics appointment
July 20 - Premium Appointment at NYC Consulate, APPROVED!
For the premium appointment, I dropped off our applications at 10am (it took all of 10 minutes), and I was told to come back at 4. Around 1pm, I received an email saying that our visas had been issued, but I didn't truly rejoice until they were in my hands at 4pm. So much elation!
Now, we followed the new practices for 'low risk' students - did not include any proof of maintenance or qualifications in the packets I handed to the consulate (but had them with me in a separate folder, just in case). All was well!
In case anyone had noticed my anxiety over declaring minor traffic convictions on a Tier 4 application, my husband who applied as a Tier 4 dependant partner had 9 minor traffic offences. We provided court traffic dockets for each, along with his PennDOT driver's history and a certificate from the PA State Police stating he has no criminal record. He was approved without so much as a delay!
Now, the part I've been looking forward to of this whole process - getting ready to actually go!
Thanks everyone!
