Want to move to England - questions about life there
« on: July 27, 2011, 01:53:45 AM »
:D hello everyone my name is Enid and i am wanting to find answers to moving to the UK. i am very unhappy here in the states and want a change for the better. i have lived in new york all my life and find that our country just doesn't care about their people like they should. i am a single mother wanting so much more for my children and myself. i have always wanted to live in Europe and learn the many arts that you have. i have currently went back to college and would like to do my 2 year transfer in Europe. there is so many questions and i don't know where to start. are the people in England friendly? are you prejudice  against other races? how is your culture there? what's the queen like? how are the schools there? is it expensive to live there? are there social service programs? how big are the houses?

Want to move to England - questions about life there

Unfortunately unless you have a lot of money or some ties to the UK (such as a fiance or spouse), it's very difficult to move to the UK.  It's not possible to just move there because you want to.  Even a student visa is difficult as you have to show you have enough money available to pay living expenses and tuition.

I'm not sure what you mean by two year transfer?

Some people are friendly, some are not.  Just like in the US.
Some people are prejudiced, some are not. Just like in the US.
It depends on what you mean by culture. Just like in the US.
None of us know what the queen is like.
The schools depend on your area.  Just like in the US.
There are social service programs, but you need to be here for at least two years to access them, not including the NHS.
The houses are smaller than the US, most with little storage.

i have currently went back to college and would like to do my 2 year transfer in Europe.

Probably impossible to do. A university education in the UK is very different from its US counterpart. Many have had to start their degrees over from scratch as UK insitiutions tend not to accept US institutions credits.
August 2008 - Tier 4 - Student Visa
February 2010 - Tier 1 - PSW
January 2012 - FLR(M)
June 2014 - ILR (finally!)
