Shipping methods for scrapbook items
« on: August 21, 2011, 05:42:31 AM »
I'm an avid scrapbooker - and with a niece and nephew I do a lot - so I want to try to ship my scrapbooking stuff to my fiance before I move over next year. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to do this or what method I should use?

It's most paper - 12x12 size - and the scrapbooking supplies I have. I know the UK probably has scrapbooking stores but I'd really like to try to bring the supplies I already have.

Would we also have to pay an import tax on items like these? Is there a way we could go about finding out if there is or how much it is if there is?

I'm not sure on import fees, you may need to look that up on USPS website, but you can buy flat rate boxes and ship your supplies that way ;) Hope this helps!

That's what I was thinking, using the flat rate boxes. I wasn't sure if you could ship them internationally though.

My fiance actually shipped an Ipad to me he had bought for my birthday present back in April and it cost me NOTHING to have it imported here. We were both floored. And properly even more so that it got here safe and sound without a scratch or dent.

So would I need to look up on my end the import fees for there or would he need to look it up on his end since he would be the one recieving it?

lol - awesome! I may have to pop (good Lord, am I already saying pop instead of go?) to the Post Office and price the boxes and then see if we can find out about the import tax. I know when he sent the Ipad I called the import place down in Atlanta to get information. Hm.
