Reservations a must?

So I'll be returning to the UK on sept 26th. And I know their big on hotel reservations but seriously do I need to book a room at a hotel that easily takes walk ins? Would it just be okay to print out the page that has the info and stuff so when i fill out the immigration form I'll have the address and when they ask I could just say reservations aren't necessary since it isn't a busy time of year and The rooms are available? or am I just better off booking a room for a night or 2 so I have the papers for them?
Sorry I'm a pain, Immigration just made me nervous last time with all the questions since I've never been questioned like that before. And I know a female traveling alone really sticks out.

I have to admit, I was wondering the same thing- just can't see what disadvantage there is to just booking and being on the safe side.

What benefit is there to being a walk in? How do you definitely know that they're going to have availability? DB and I once intended to check in as walk-ins at a hotel in Manchester since DB wasn't comfortable paying online and there was still availability that morning. By the time we arrived that night, everything was sold out...

It doesn't matter if it's not a busy time for tourists wherever you're going--There may be a giant gig or sporting event going on that you don't know about.  If you had already put that hotel's address on your landing card, and you don't stay there well...that would be considered lying. Personally, I would NEVER lie to an IO...

I know this is a slightly old thread, but I just wanted to say I agree with the others in booking is the better choice! Not doing so is pretty risky.. Hope all worked out
