Hello
« on: October 10, 2011, 12:23:43 AM »
Hi, my names Alan, I'm from Edinburgh. I'm not an American but I have friends in the U.S., I hope that makes me a wee bit okay to join? :-\\\\.

I found this site a year or so ago, when looking for info for someone who wanted to move from the U.S. It's sad that its so hard for english speaking folk to move to the U.K. and reading some of the few posts on folk who are struggling, I just wish I could help in some small way  :(.  I'm nobody special, I work at a company called Starnet Geomatics as a Telecom Site Supervisor based in Livingston, I travel all over the Scottish Highlands and Islands supervising rigging teams at radio masts, usually on remote hilltops in a 4x4. You can see some of my videos made on my travels over the last 4 years on youtube www.youtube.com/user/Oxgangs1966

Cheers, Alan  :)

The Ferry Lass is gorgeous!

Of course you can join! We're hardly exclusive.

So you're kind of the Witchita Lineman, mmm??

Hi, Alan, nice to meet you!  You sound like a very compassionate person; it's so nice of you wanting to help others.  I agree it seems harder for us to move to the UK than some other nationalities.  But it's worth it. :)

Hi folks, Thanks for all your kind comments!  :), yes I'm sort of like the 'Witchita Lineman' :D, travelling on my own, up and doon hills and sailing on the calmac ferries. Glad you liked the 'Ferry Lass' video, my Sister in Law's Dad helped with the restoration work. Below should be a photo of my friends from Florida on their second visit to Scotland. Cheers, Alan
