Cost for student/spousal visas to increase to £430 and £495

I'm just wondering...now that I've paid for my spousal visa...what sort of money issues I'm gonna incur in two years, and again...when I decide to retun home permanently.....
why does it have to cost so much just to make a move?

After the I&A(ToC) passes, people will need to add another £250 - £295 on top of all the visa fees for their Home Office registry voucher. 

It's starting to look like a young couple just starting out is going to need about 1 month's take home pay just to pay for fees and visas...

Can you explain a bit more Garry? I don't quite understand this. Will it affect those who already have ILR like my DH?

There's no problem if you're already married.  It only affects UK citizens getting married to non-EU nationals at registry offices in England, NI, and Wales, but not Scotland.  Farcical any way you cut it, but it's going to be enacted because they haven't gone for a consultation.

Could you summarise please? No way can I read all that and the pages aren't numbered. Is this some sort of Government permission to marry? What if the parties do not intend to live in the UK? What if one already has a fiancé visa, like my DH had? Had he not already proved he was legitimate to come to the UK and me married? Won't bogus bride and grooms just marry outside the UK to avoid this?

I skimmed through it and it sounds as though it will be to do with giving notice - that when you give notice you will at the same time have to get permission from the home office as the registries have apparently been saying that when they report a marriage they think may be bogus, the home office hasn't been responsive....

And the pages are actually numbered - if you click and hold down the button on the scroll bar, it shows you to what page you're scrolling to....

This whole thing just makes me mad! If I have already gone through the process of getting a fiance visa and had it granted, why isn't that rigorous enough to satisfy them? Why are they adding another layer to this process for those who are doing it the right way? Maybe my fiance and I need to start looking into getting married in the US just to bypass all of this nonsense.

 I'd recommend downloading the .pdf file that's available on the website- it splits the fees into different categories- charging extra if the application is appealed, etc.  For instance, the £495 fee above would be for an "application with appeals and full enforcement"  They're trying to decide how much of the cost of appeals/enforcement they can recoup through fee raises- definitely important to give feedback, I think.

You don't have to get a permission voucher if you have a fiance visa *OR* you are getting married within the Church of England...

All of this is belaboured at great length in the bill's 3rd reading at Lords.
