Do NOT waste your time or money!  It's AWFUL!!  For anyone who has even been in that situation, it will most certainly not ring true.  It infuriated my husband and I.

As two people who struggled with an LDR for many years and jumped through all the proper hoops to finally be together, we had little sympathy for a 19 year old who willfully and against the advice of her lawyer overstayed her US student visa for 3 months.  And is then surprised when she is bounced upon return a week later.  This isn't a case of true love being torn apart after a mistake or a government being unjust, it's a film where you're meant to feel sorry for the girl who intentionally broke the rules and was then forced to face the consequences.

Add to that a lot of poor acting and a total lack of chemistry between the main couple and you've got 90 minutes of your life that you'll never get back!  Not to mention the fact that it's all ad libbed and the two leads have clearly never been in an LDR....

(although Alex Kingston and Oliver Muirhead as her parents were good fun)

To be fair, the whole point of the movie is that they are separated because she doesn't follow the rules.  It would be a pretty boring film if it was about a girl who follows all the procedures correctly and everything works out wonderfully.  I'd take this premise over the films where people decide on a whim to move to another country to be with their boyfriend with no indication whatsoever that there are any procedures involved.

I haven't seen the film and probably wont but I actually think it's refreshing that a film shows at least some realism about what happens when you don't follow the rules.
