Anyone have Freesat?
« on: October 23, 2011, 08:25:17 PM »
BF's family has Sky, which allowed me to discover an all-horse/farm, all-the-time tv channel. ;) Apparently it's not "officially" on freesat, but can be accessed on frequency 12560V 27500 2/3.

Before we go out and get an adapter to allow us to access Freesat, is there anyone able to confirm this? I'm sure the BF would enjoy the extra satellite channels, but this would be my main incentive for getting it. ;)

Thanks!

I have no idea about your question, but look at you with a BF! Fun news! :)

That sounds like Horse And Country TV. Known irreverently as "Wonky Donkey" due to the variable quality of its transmissions, apparently...

Wikipedia says

Quote
This is a list of all of the free-to-air channels that are currently available via satellite from SES Astra satellites located at 28.2 °E (Astra 2A/2B/2D) and Eutelsat's Eurobird 1 satellite at 28.5°E. These are the same group of satellites used for the Sky pay-TV platform and the Freesat free-to-air platform, therefore existing installations for these platforms would not require a realignment of the satellite dish or the purchase of any additional equipment.

Horse & Country TV    Horse & Country TV Limited    24 Hours    16:9 SDTV    Eurobird 1    12560V 27500 2/3

It's in the "Lifestyle and Culture" section of the table here:

and here

Sky    Channel 280
Freesat    None, but can be manually tuned at frequency 12560V 27500 2/3

Adding Wonky Donkey to a Freesat box

Quote
Go into the menu and select add channels
type the frequency 12560.00
go to polarization and type V
go to SR rating and type 27500
Then find channels

Anyhow, just type "Horse and Country TV Freesat" into Google and sift through the results. A knowledgeable satellite equipment retailer should be able to talk you through tuning it in.

This is their website
