Considering a move to Dersingham, Norfolk
« on: October 23, 2011, 10:11:13 PM »
I’m considering a permanent move to Dersingham, Norfolk. My wife (a Brit) and I recently returned from a 3 week visit there, where she has family. She has a British passport but I do not.

I would welcome opinions/comments about that area of Norfolk and virtually anything else anyone would like to share about this impending move. If we go through with this, it would happen in about two years from now. I’m already retired and my wife will be by the time we move.

I have no concerns about living in the UK. I've been there quite a few times but only once in Norfolk. I also lived in Germany and Asia in the past.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Be prepared to drive everywhere!  Other than that the area is lovely and people seem friendly.  We just finished walking the Norfolk Coastal Path which starts in Hunstanton.

It's beautiful countryside, but North Norfolk is very rural and like bookgrl says you'll need to drive everywhere - especially since a lot of the rural bus service is getting cut.

Kings Lynn does have a direct train to London, so that's a bonus.

Thanks for the input.

While in Dersingham, I did notice that a car would be necessary. I suppose that's the price we would pay for the benefit of being a bit remote. One of the things I really liked about it is how close it is to the sea. We also enjoyed the coastal walks around Hunstanton and especially liked Wells Next The Sea village.

Wells is lovely. Being that close to excellent beaches is a plus!
