Channel 4 documentary: Moving to the UK for love?
« on: October 25, 2011, 12:02:36 PM »
Are you changing your life for love?

Are you leaving your home, family, or friends to be with your partner?

The BAFTA award-winning team at The Garden Productions in the UK is making a new documentary series for Channel 4 about love and relationships.

We are looking to talk to people who are planning to make a big change in their life to be with their partner.  Perhaps you are relocating to the UK from another country?  Maybe you’re changing your lifestyle or giving up something important?

Whatever your story we would like to hear from you.

Please email anna.dangoor@thegardenproductions.tv or call Anna on 020 7645 3324  to find out more.

Calling does not oblige you to take part in the series.

This is cool. They'll probably be people on here in that situation who wouldn't mind being on TV - Especially if you're able to accurately reflect the hardships and visa hurdles people have to go through.

This. I'd love to see something on tv that actually shows the hardships British citizens go through because of the ever-tightening immigration rules here... Showing immigrants as regular people, not just numbers on UKBA's graphs or headlines in the red tops.

Are you just looking for people who are going to move or also for those who already have?

It would be great to see it as it really is, not just some 'goopy eyed' star struck by love person packing a few things and hopping on a plane, but all that goes with it. There are so many decisions to make for both parties, visa hurdles to go through, being away from family and friends, making new friends, finding a job, settling into life in your new country, etc. It is about so much more than just being in love or being another number on the list of immigrants in the country.

Perhaps not do it as only people getting ready to make the move, but people who have been here 1, 5, 10, 20 or more years to see how they have gotten on over time.

It will be interesting to see.

Hi historyenne,

At the moment we are just looking for people who are about to make the move, but it is possible we will open it out later to those who have moved in the past.  If that happens I will repost something further down the line.

Thanks for your interest,

Anna

I'm moving in December, which is probably too soon.  But I'll email them anyway. :)

I emailed her this morning, but haven't got any response. I'm not moving till Aug. so that might be too late.

Hmmm... I'm getting married in May and planning the move for July/August. Maybe I'll send an e-mail  :)
