Phew okay ... done it :D

So .. all pre-arranged without g/f knowing ...

We drove 2 hours to a DooWop concert by The Reflections last Sunday in Michigan ... under the pretense that I'd been in contact with the group who wanted to invite me there as their guest.

So ... fourth song in the announcement came:
"We get people coming from all over the States to see us, but today we have someone from England, who not only is a big DooWop fan, but a singer too, and we'd like to invite him on-stage to help us out with "Sunday Kind of Love".

So, I get up there, sing it with the guys (fantaaastic), meanwhile G/F is up on the floor videoing this with her camera.  After the song, I then do a short speech, get down on one knee, open the ring box and propose on stage over the microphone to her.

After she managed to start breathing again she said "yes" :D

Hmmmm

The Plan:
My US GF comes over here to London
I arrange a Village Hall meeting
GF comes along

First speaker shows a slide that says "Doo doo doo doo da doo doo doo doo da doo ..."

Unknown to GF, this is Ian, a Bass singer from my 80s accapella choir (Kitsch in Sync), who then launches into the intro of the song "It must be love", slowly member of the choir who are in the audience join in, until it's my turn.  I take the lead and in the vocal instrumental, do the one knee and ring thing.

Sadly ... her Visa was refused, so it ain't gonna happen like that :(

Hmmm unless I can find a decent Accapella choir in Michigan ... hmmm
8)
In fact you did and it was the greatest day on the planet 8)  You made everything so wonderfully sweet in how you did this.....You may not have been able to do as you originally planned, but it was the sweetest thing you could've ever done....and it all worked out fantastically!!!!!  You are the best....Love you :-*

So amazing indeed, I had no idea...(although everyone else knew including my family, not just the Doo Wop group and their family members) It was the most amazing night ever, something I will never forget for the rest of my/our lives together.  Yes breathing was a bit of a problem since you so sweetly took my breath away  ;)  Sweetheart you are so wonderfully amazing  :-*

me being the american and proposer, I took a knee and proposed on Valentines Day 2007 just as we peaked the top of the london eye. Then since i'm from Dallas we went to dinner at the Texas Embassy Cantina.  We got married Apr 4th in Chicago and honeymooned at home in Dallas.
