Visiting England!!
« on: September 27, 2004, 09:09:00 PM »
I'll probably be visiting my friend from Devon this coming summer, and I'm completely exstatic over it!  Are there any recommended places to visit, things to do, etc?

What sort of stuff do you like?

London is a must of course-loads of museums, galleries, walks.
Brighton is great.  Lots of cool shopping as well as amazing architecture.
There's loads of cool music festivals in the summer-definately a thing to do.
Castles, the Seasides, Cathedrals, plays.
Loads of stuff to do.   :)

Devon is amazing.  Walked the steep roads of Clovelly in the north and the gorgeous coastline of Salcombe in the south.  Absolutely stunning.

Go everywhere.  See everything.  And don't forget to do a cream tea!  :D

As a former Devonite (we're now just over the county border in Somerset), I can highly recommend the area from Exmouth moving east to Sidmouth. The cliffs and beaches are wonderful and the little villages great places to go.

Also, the coast from Exeter, along the Exe river down through Dawlish, Teignmouth etc. is spectacular.

And yes, definitely do the cream tea!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

This is really late but I thought people might be interested.

If you want to see what England has to offer, I recommend http://www.visitengland.com/ .
