Trunki opinions/reviews?

Anybody out there have a trunki? Seeing as how we'll be flying back and forth, and no longer with a stroller for our 3 y.o., I was thinking of getting one for the upcoming trip. However, partner thinks it would be a waste. Generally positive reviews on amazon.co.uk, tho more negative ones on amazon.com (opinion seems to be the Melissa and Doug branded ones aren't made as well).
Thoughts?

We were going to get a Trunki for my 3 y/o daughter when we flew back to the US earlier this year, but we decided that considering her lack of attention sometimes forgetting to hold onto things properly and that she gets really tired travelling (our flight was 12+ hours & plus a short hop too) we just used our pushchair that we hardly used since she was about 2.

I'd say for short trips (no more than a couple hours) they'd be fine for a 3 yo as long as they are attentive and don't let go (and don't have any balance issues) but for longer trips, I'd say no and just use the stroller as you're child would be secure, you could focus on getting from one place to the other with your other bags which is better for them as they get tired trapsing around airports and really don't like to wait in queues much.

Now for a 5 y/o or older child I'd say go for it.

My kids have trunkis.  They are good for a few very specific situations.  They're useful for getting a 2 or 3 year old through the airport- especially at airports where you cannot collect your gate checked buggy until you get to baggage claim. 

It was really nice to be able to pull a kid along and for them to have a place to sit while waiting to get through customs and immigration etc. 

By age 5 my kids were way too big for them (legs to long to ride them).

In terms of a carry on bag they aren't very good.  They are hard to get into, don't have many compartments and are difficult to organize.  Kids can't really get them open or closed by themselves.  For these reasons, we stopped using the trunkies when our younger child was around 3.5

So I guess my feelings about it are mixed.  It was a lifesaver when our kids weren't really old enough to walk with us through the airport and we couldn't have our stroller with us.  But it had some definite drawbacks, too.

We have a trunki for my son, its good for bringing toys on the flight and him being responsible for them, but 90% of the time, guess who is carrying it...yup, ME. He doesn't want to ride on it too much or pull it along. I got some Trunki stuff at Quality save over the last few weeks, a backpack (that my son loves) and a pillow, but not the case.

I think they are great, and if your kid will ride on it, it does make going through airports easy.

I prefer the lighter, softer and more flexible kiddie backpack to tote around his stuff. He's still too young to be responsible for carrying his own things so inevitably whatever we bring on board will be my responsibility to carry. A Trunki would have been a bigger hassle than it's worth.
