So Tired of Being Apart
« on: February 07, 2012, 12:38:08 AM »
This is getting so old! Glyn has been back in the UK since Sept 9...so he left Sept 8. Yes, I did get to see him for two weeks in October for his Dad's funeral, but that wasn't exactly a great time. We didn't even sleep in the same bed.
I miss my husband. I miss his hugs. I miss how he kisses my nose. I miss picking up after him. I miss living as a family with him and my daughter. We missed our 5 year wedding anniversary, we missed Christmas and New Years...and Valentines Day will be another.
Our visa applications went in last week FINALLY. Unfortunately, we've been told it will take up to 10 working days for a decision. I'm so tired of waiting. I know we're in the home stretch now...but I can't take this stress anymore. The only person that makes the stress go away and makes everything seem like its going to be ok, no matter what is happening, MY BEST FRIEND....is 3000+ miles away.  :\\\'(

OKAY...done now.

Hugs from me too! Being apart is rough, and even though you know it will be worth it in the end, the day to day waiting can seem forever. Keep focused on the day you will be together, make plans when you talk for the things you can and will do as a family. Having those things to look forward to can help make it bearable.

Best wishes for you. I know how it feels to be apart and the only thing I can really say it that commincation it key. When I met my husband back in 96, we wrote letters to each other and emailed. We didn't have the pleasure of SKYPE or Smart phones. It was expensive to call as well which isn't the case these days. We were apart for 3 years but it was worth it come together and be married in 2000.

Good luck!

Thanks. We actually did the whole long distance thing from 2003-2006 when I got my first spousal visa. It was horrible then, and its worse now as we have lived as husband and wife for 5 years. I just sent off the remaining paperwork that our ECO wanted from us. I pray for a good outcome. If not, its time to either appeal or just give up. Glyn's elderly mother will be left alone...but I can't do this much longer.

Actually Glyn has his 10 year GC. But, his mum is elderly and just lost her husband of 50 years in October so he wants to be there for her. Its just getting to be too much. We've been apart for the most part since Sept, other than my brief trip over for his dad's funeral in October. My daughter misses her step-dad, I miss my best friend, and I know he misses us. Its just depressing all around. He could easily come back....but really wants to be there for his mum. He actually misses the States immensely and is ready to come back if he has to, but we're hoping it doesn't come to that.

Yeah, I can understand that. DH's parents are a big concern for him, and myself as well. We're going to try to come over for a visit every year and such to visit family.

Is you MIL able to travel and if so would consider moving to the States with you? I believe you can sponsor elderly parents under your husbands green card. (please dont chastise me if Im incorrect)

Its been a while since this conversation has happened for me, but with my UKC Mother in the US, she did try for years to have my grandparents move to the US so she could look after them. Apparently she would be able to sponsor the visa for them. Could this be a possibility for your situation?

Sorry youre going through all this :(

I honestly don't know if she would come this way or not. She's almost 80 and very rarely has left the area that she was born in, raised in, and raised her own family in. She's pretty set in her ways...and stubborn as heck!!!

Yeah that was my grandparents.
My Nan was ready to move to be closer to us, but my Granddad wouldnt.

It wouldnt hurt to try and ask her... Its not like youre trying to put her in a home, just bring her closer to you. She would be able to claim her UK pension, would just have to sort out healthcare.

I haven't been around as much the last few days, so I'm just now seeing this.
