Registering new borns for dual nationality

Hi.
I am British and my wife is American, living in Scotland.
We have a baby due in June, and would like to register our baby with duel nationality.
Has anyone had experience of how to do this please?

The baby will automatically have dual citizenship from birth, simply because you are British and your wife is American.

So it will just be a case of doing the following once the baby is born:

1) Applying for a UK passport for the baby

2) Going to the US Embassy in person (appointment only) to register the baby's birth and to apply for a US passport for the baby (I think you may be able to do this at the embassy in Edinburgh?).

Yes, you can do it at the consulate in Edinburgh and it is a pretty straightforward process.
At the end of the process you end up with the certificate for registered birth abroad, their passport and their social security card (these get sent via post, you don't get them on the day).
Brit birth certificate forms will be given to you by the midwives, and Brit passport can be obtained with the Brit birth certificate and a few other things.
