California -> Derbyshire
« on: February 08, 2012, 06:31:15 AM »
I'm so glad I found this site, I've been browsing through old threads for a couple days now and finding a lot of answers to things I had been wondering about.

I met my English BF in an online game a couple years ago, we quickly became friends, and then things went to the talking on Skype for 6 hours a day, and, well, I'm sure many of you know how it goes.  ;D

I've been over to visit several times on tourist visas, all added up I've spent a year in England. There'll certainly be a lot to adjust to, but I've already made some friends in my BF's area and I'm looking forward to moving permanently.

We're planning to apply for the fiancee visa around the end of this year - cue much nervousness!

Welcome to UKY!

I did the Cali to Derbyshire move in 2007 and we moved back to CA last year.

I miss the Derbyshire countryside so much...a tad envious of you...it's a beautiful place...hope you love it there.

It's gorgeous there  :) I do miss California's sunlight though, especially in the winter.

Hi & welcome to UKY!

I live in South Yorkshire near the northeast Derbyshire / northern Nottinghamshire border.  If you're in the area let us know.   ;)

I'm not far from Derby City, so I won't be right next door, but I guess not too far away either  ;) We've been up in that general area at least once for hiking/exploring - went for dinner at a pub in Yorkshire after hiking Froggat's Edge one day.

It's great to know there's other Americans in the area - the local shopkeepers tell me rumors about other Americans they see sometimes but I haven't spotted any yet  :P
