How infuriating, jennylyle! I'm glad you made progress, but I probably would have lost it if after all that they said, "of course spouse visas are exempt!" Um? Then why did they make it 10 times more difficult than it needed to be?
Sometimes I feel like when people aren't sure of the standard protocol (in the US and UK...anywhere really) they make up ridiculous rules to get you to go away so they won't have to deal with you anymore.
