Has anyone ever read this?  I read it over Christmas and adored it.  It's officially in my top three fave reads!

I read it in college.  Twas pretty good.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

It's a love story.  A boy falls in love with a girl.  She marries someone else.  He pines for her for the rest of his life.  It's set in Colombia and it's just gorgeous!   :)

Very good book! Marquez's 100 years of Solitude is quite good as well, if you've a mind!
I know I'm late - where's the booze?

Was this the book that was used in the movie "Serendipity?"
Not sure but it sounds right and the story also seems to fit the theme of the book.
Im gonna check it out at Amazon. Thanks!

This is one of my all-time favorites as well.  GGMarquez is an amazing writer!
My husband is Colombian, which is why I picked it up in the first place, but it did not bias my opinion.
To picture two very elderly people together is not always a lovely image, but he made it beautiful and passionate.

That's a great book, I read it a few years ago and really enjoyed it.
I plan to read 100 Years of Solitude which I understand is his seminal work.  I keep asking DW to pick it up from the library when she goes but she hasn't been yet!  I think I might pop over tomorrow.
