Vote in US Elections - get ready for the 2012 primaries!
« on: December 05, 2011, 01:51:20 PM »
I'm getting excited for the upcoming elections in 2012! This is my first year away from the US, so today I registered to get my absentee ballots with Overseas Vote Foundation:

https://www.overseasvotefoundation.org/overseas/home.htm

The website was really easy to use, they help you fill in the info needed for your home state, then you print off the form, sign it, and mail it in to your county office.

I hope this works! :)

Make sure you're registered to vote, and if you're switching your party affiliation this year, some states require you to do this many weeks in advance of the primary election.

Thanks for posting this info! I was wondering about this myself, and if it works I will be very happy that I continue to exercise my right to vote in the US! Fingers crossed :)

And for any of you who might be still undecided about who you're supporting, I'd definitely recommend checking out Ron Paul!

Thanks for posting, we are leaving this summer so will miss the elections.  I wasn't sure if I would be able to vote before I left or would do absentee.

Anyone who wants to participate in the overseas Democratic primary can do so: http://www.democratsabroad.org/2012_global_primary

Not that there's much competition this year ;) but Americans abroad get to elect a certain number of delegates to represent them at the Democratic convention.

I don't think the Republicans do the same thing, unfortunately.

bother... elections.  So not looking forward to it.  Can't I just vote none of the above?  I'd really like that.  I saw something about Skeltor for '12... I think he'd be a better option at least you know what he's all about.  :P

My ballot is always a write in, even if you're voting for the main parties.  So if you wanted to vote for Skeletor or any of the other candidates, you could write it in.

Of course, IIRC, absentee ballots only get read if there is a tie in that state.

I'm from CA, not registered democrat so my vote most likely doesn't really count anyway.  Which is why no republican presidential candidate ever goes to CA after the primaries.

Not that I am all that excited about anyone who might come out of the GOP anyway.
