Tier One Visa Expiring Soon...HELP!
« on: March 24, 2012, 06:43:01 PM »
Hi everyone.
My tier one visa is expiring in July and I'm struggling to find information about all of the steps/paperwork etc. that I need to have in place to get it renewed.

I have funds sitting in a bank acct. as I'm sure this is part of the deal...but any link to specific paperwork that someone can pass along would be helpful.  The UK Immigration site is not very clear at all.

Thanks all!  I hope all of the Londoners enjoyed this beautiful weather today!

All the information you need to know about renewing your Tier 1 visa should be on the UKBA website:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/working/tier1/general/

Essentially, you need to meet the points requirement again for Tier 1 visa renewals - including age, qualifications, earnings etc.

It says on the page I've linked to that the minimum personal savings required in your account will be increasing from June 14th though (from £800 to £900), so if you can, I would try to apply before then.... they recommend applying at least 1 month before your visa expires.

I'm up in early June, so I have the same stuff on my mind.  Keep in mind that the fees are increasing from £1000 to £1500 at the beginning of April, so make sure you have enough money saved.

Have you downloaded the guidance along with the application? That will provide a lot more detail. It doesn't seem all that different from the application process three years ago.  The main thing is to have the documentation in place--proper payslips and bank statements for salary confirmation, plus documentation for your maintenance payment.  The big difference is that you'll have to register for a Biometric Residence Permit.  The UKBA will send you a letter a couple weeks after you send in your application inviting you to register your details (picture and fingerprints, I think?) at either a PEO or Post Office (has to be the PEO if you've got dependents).  Apparently PEO appointments are quite difficult to get.

Tier 1 applications seem to be taking about 60 days to process right now, so keep that in mind with any travel plans you may have.  There's a really useful website here where people keep track of how long their applications have been under consideration, etc:

Good luck!  There seem to be a few of us right now with Tier 1 renewals
