What would you do with...
« on: March 23, 2012, 09:35:28 AM »
As so many UKY'ers seem to be into food/cooking I thought I would start a thread about strange ingredients because what's weird to me may be perfectly normal to you! So if you have strange-to-you food kicking around your cupboards, you can ask here too!

Anyway, I asked my husband to bring me some fermented black bean paste home from the Asian market yesterday and we instead have a rather large can of sweetened black bean paste. So, UKY, What would you do with it?

Do you have something you could use it as a marinade for?

Mooncakes ?

Or I'd be tempted to try and make a pasty or pie-like thing out of it.

Or black bean brownies - and cut back or reduce the the sugar, depending on how sweet the paste is?
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

Oh thanks PB those brownies sound interesting. I suppose I'll have to open them up and see what exactly they're like in there. I'm a bit intimidated!

My husband says you can make some kind of a fluffy dumpling with it. Have you tried searching it online?
