Experience in Brussels Mobile Biometric Clinic
« on: December 04, 2012, 10:42:11 AM »
Hello guys,

I am currently waiting for the response from the British Embassy after applying for my visa.

I am a Syrian Citizen came to France with a Tourist Schengen Visa.

Because of the revolution in Syrian and the brutal criminality of the Assad Regime, No more UK or European Embassies in Syria, so we have the right to apply from any place in the world.

My fiancee is living in London and started her job a month ago almost. So we chose to apply for a visitor visa since she is not in her job for six months yet.

We gathered all the documents requested for a General Visitor Visa "will mention them later".

I booked an appointment with the MB Clinic in Brussels (Paid online 100€ + 150€ "I dont know why" On Wednesday (the MB clinic opens only Tuesday and Wednesday).

I live in Lille so I chose Brussels because it has an earlier appointment and cheaper TGV ticket than Paris.

I had the appointment on 12 so I arrived in Brussels at 10 in station (Brussels Midi) then took the train to CENTRAL STATION. The office was just 3 minutes walking distance (Rue des Colonies). I saw the office then started searching for a courier company ( DHL or Fedex) because when applying from MB clinic you have to send the papers yourself. I found Fedex office very close to the MB clinic but It was only an office for administrative procedures not for sending parcels. Anyway It was almost 12 so I headed back to World Bridge.

It was so calm in a big building, I asked the reception about the world bridge and they told 2nd Floor.

I reached the door I rang the bell a nice man came open the door for me, when I entered the room he asked for my name (we sat in the same room the applicants and the man who checks the papers). There were only 3 people waiting. It was very friendly and calm.

When it was my turn he asked me to show him (passport, application, proof of online payment). He DOES NOT check the supporting documents at all.

Then He told me to wait to take my Biometric information in the other room (Fingerprints, Photos, Video tape where I say my name and date of birth).

I tried to ask them about the supporting documents but their answers were (You should do the application the way you think it is right) so I didnt bother a lot.

They gave me a pre-addressed "to British Embassy in Paris" blue and gray envelope to
send my papers with.

This took me only around 20 minutes.

Then the journey of suffering started, because the courier companies didnt have any office inside Brussels and when I called them they asked for an address "which I dont have since I live in Lille". So I decided to go back to Lille and call Fedex from there.
P.S: Courier Companies asked for 93€ to send the envelope whilst in Lille it was 27€, so if you have time you can go to Lille (14€ TGV ticket) and send the papers from there.

My situation is the following:

Med Student final year, my fiance is lawyer on (105k £ per year).

Supporting Documents "ME":
*2 banks statements of me (9500$ Syrian Bank account, 1700€ French one)
*Proof of car ownership in Syria.
*Transcript of grades (Faculty of Medicine)
*Proof of address in France.
*Proof of bills in France.
*Itinerary (Return plane ticket from Paris to London)
*IELTS certificate.
*Travel Insurance covers all my stay.
*2 photos.
*Passport photocopy.

Supporting Documents "My Fiancee":
*Invitation Letter confirming (address, responsibility of any expenses "medical, pocket money, accommodation...etc)
*Two proofs of address "Bank Statement and Phone Bills"
*Bank statement of (2400£)
*Certificate of Naturalization (UK citizenship)
*Certificate from her employer (that she is on 105k £ per year)
*Phone Bill with my number in France "highlighted".
*Certificated from her previous job in London.
*Certificate from the Law Society and Practicing Certificate.
*Passport photocopy.
*Some Eurostar tickets from London to Lille.
I know that papers are more than enough, BUT here is my obstacles:

*I am a Syrian Citizen (re the situation in Syria they might be afraid that I will not leave UK).
*My fiancee has been employed for one month only.
*My Syrian bank account shows descent amount of money but (It might not have credibility).
*I am on Tourist Schenge Visa.

And I apply for a General Visitor Visa, its not Fiancee Visa. I do not know which one is easier to be obtained. So I applied for the cheaper one.

Important: WHEN YOU APPLY FROM BRUSSELS MB CLINIC YOU CANNOT TRACK YOUR APPLICATION ONLINE, YOU WILL BE CONTACTED VIA EMAIL FROM BRITISH EMBASSY ONCE THE DECISION IS MADE"

I hope my thread can be helpful to anyone who is interested in applying, and if you can tell me how many days this might take (upon experience not what is written on the website), and if I forgot any paper that I should have included in the application.

Thanks for reading
