Duty/fee question
« on: April 08, 2012, 06:22:31 AM »
I think this is the correct place to post this.

I am bringing over a bottle of wine (12.5% alc by vol) as a gift for my mother-in-law (75cl bottle) and possibly a 75 cl bottle of scotch as well. The scotch is a gift from my aunt, and I'm not completely sure on the size. It's alcohol % is between 40 and 43%. Anyway, I know that amount is over the limit for duty free. Does anyone know what the fees will be approximately?

The wine was $12 US and the scotch is worth either $85 or $150 (I don't know which year it is) if that helps.

Thanks!
Emily

The only meaning anything has is the meaning you give to it.       ~Author Unknown

I saw that earlier but it's a bit confusing. I'll attempt to look over it again tomorrow when I'm not mostly asleep.

You can always declare your goods and let the customs people do the math for you. ;)

That's what I'll be doing, I just wanted to have a rough idea of how much it would be.
