Hi,
I just signed up here. It's been quite a while since I've been on a forum!
A little background about me (and now my husband):
I live in the US - North Carolina - for now. Settlement visa has been applied for and we are waiting for the decision.
I'm a Biology and Chemistry Bachelors Graduate (Pfeiffer University in NC)
I tutor part time in maths, science, and SAT Prep/State Test Prep
I met my now husband via Twitter Feb 2011, and we started "officially" dating in April 2011. I had planned a visit with two, at the time, friends to the UK for a holiday. They were to stay for two weeks, I wanted to stay for up to six months (but I would have returned sooner had my then boyfriend and I had of had problems). Needless to say, I was detained for hours with no food (I cannot eat wheat nor wheat contaminated items) and finally released for one night in London. I returned to the US the following morning. I applied for a visitors visa in August and it was denied. Anyway, my now husband flew to the US to visit last August (6 days) and again over last Christmas (3 weeks). We were married the day after he arrived at Christmas, but had to fly back to the UK for work on the 7 January this year. We employed a solicitor located in the UK to help with the settlement visa process (and heaven forbid, any appeals needed) since I had been denied entry clearance once and denied a visitors visa once. The solicitor has stated that we fulfill the requirements for the visa over and above what is required. I'm just getting very nervous about waiting. I'm trying to stay busy, but I'm running out of projects to do here at my mothers house (where I stay rent free)! My husband and I speak to one another over the phone for hours every day (he works for a VoiP phone service provider) and we see one another daily via Skype, but it is difficult being apart. Furthermore, he needs surgery on his heart (minor) but he won't schedule it until I'm in the UK with him.
I also crochet, and I am the caretaker (for now) of mom's cat, two bunnies, one silly duck, and a handful of chickens. I have Asperger's, although it's undiagnosed (my doctor hadn't even heard of it!), so I don't have many friends and still, at 27, do not understand many social skills.
That's pretty much me in a nutshell. A very tightly wound nutshell at the moment until I hear back from the visa application.
I hope to learn from this forum and perhaps make a few new friends along the way. Once I have a visa, I'll be living in Norwich.
